FAQ
- Blank white page — browser JavaScript error. Check developer console (F12).
- Infinite loading spinner — Socket.IO connection failing. Often browser extension or network firewall.
- “Unable to connect” — server unreachable. DNS or network issue.
- “502 Bad Gateway” — server running but proxy in between failing. Contact support.
- “Login page works but dashboard doesn’t” — session or cookie issue.
- “SSL certificate error” — certificate expired or misconfigured. Contact support for renewal.
Start here — browser issues are the most common cause:
- Incognito/private window — rules out cookies and extensions. If works in incognito, issue is browser-specific.
- Clear cookies for the uptime-kuma URL.
- Disable extensions — ad blockers, privacy tools sometimes break Socket.IO connections.
- Try different browser — Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari. If one works and another doesn’t, issue is browser-specific.
- Update browser — Uptime Kuma needs modern browser (Chrome 90+, Firefox 88+, Safari 14+).
- Ping your instance from terminal:
ping yourinstance.uptimekuma.io. No response = DNS or network issue.
- Try mobile data — if instance loads on 4G but not on office Wi-Fi, your network/firewall blocks the connection.
- Check DNS resolution —
nslookup yourinstance.uptimekuma.io should return SmartXHosting IPs.
- Corporate firewall blocking WebSockets — Uptime Kuma uses Socket.IO over WebSockets. Some corporate networks block. Whitelist via IT team.
If browser and network are fine, the issue may be server-side. On SmartXHosting:
- Scheduled maintenance — check the SmartXHosting Customer Dashboard for announcements.
- Instance suspended — unpaid invoice? Check billing status at smartxhosting.uk/login.
- High load — hundreds of monitors checking simultaneously can slow dashboard. Consider reducing monitor frequency.
- Resource exhausted — very large Uptime Kuma databases may need server-level tuning. Contact support.
- Forgot password — no self-service reset. Contact SmartXHosting support for manual reset with ID verification.
- 2FA device lost — use one of your backup codes (saved when 2FA was enabled). If no codes, support can disable 2FA after identity check.
- Session expired — re-login.
- Invalid token — clear cookies and cache, re-login.
Contact support via the Customer Dashboard if:
- 502/503/504 errors persist more than 10 minutes
- SSL certificate warning
- Suspected billing/suspension
- Instance consistently unresponsive
- 2FA lost without backup codes

Q: Dashboard works in Chrome but not Firefox.
A: Browser-specific caching or extension. Clear Firefox cache, try in private window, disable extensions one by one.
Q: “Connection lost, reconnecting...” message.
A: Temporary network blip. Waits 5-10 seconds typically resolve. If persistent, check network and WebSockets access.
Q: Corporate network blocks Uptime Kuma.
A: Ask IT to whitelist *.uptimekuma.io (or your custom domain). Uses WebSocket (WSS) on port 443.
Q: Can I check SmartXHosting status externally?
A: SmartXHosting publishes a status page. Check it when your own instance seems unreachable.
Q: Lost 2FA access.
A: Use backup codes. No codes? Contact SmartXHosting with identity verification for manual 2FA disable.
